How does the Tenant Fees Act 2019 impact me if I am a Tenant?

From 1 June 2019, when a Tenant enters into a tenancy agreement, student let or licence to occupy housing in the private sector, a Landlord or agent cannot charge you any fees or payments other than is listed here. Therefore the good news for tenants is that from 1 June 2019 it will cost less to move home and there will be no charges when that tenancy comes up for renewal.

However, Tenants should also be mindful of increasing rents and be aware whatever your tenancy agreement, rents can only be increased once a year at the most. Tenants can contact their local Reeds Rains branch for further details of the Tenant Fees Act 2019.
