This branch of Reeds Rains serves the populations of Ilford, Barking, Redbridge and Chigwell. This large metropolitan area of London/Essex has in excess of 250,000 residents and has benefitted from its close links to Stratford, London Docklands and the city. The Ilford and Chigwell areas have always had close links with the capital and for hundreds of years residents have made a choice to set up home and work in Central and East London. Therefore it is no surprise that the Central Line tube and the soon-to-be in–commission Crossrail project play such a key role in defining the area and its prosperity. In recent years the area has benefitted from a diverse and educated influx of professionals from all over the world who work and maintain the IT systems of the leading city banks.

The Ilford, Barking, Redbridge and Chigwell show good growth at present and this trend has followed the revival of the inner and central London Property market. At this branch of Reeds Rains we specialise in all areas of the local property market. Indeed we are one of the premier sellers of one million plus properties in the Chigwell area of Manor road. We also have had significant success within the North Ilford/Drive location whereupon you will find some fine double fronted Edwardian six bedroom properties.  Notable locations for City workers to buy are in the areas of Gants Hill and Newbury Park as these areas have some of the busiest tube stations on the Central Line, and three bedroom family homes during the early part of 2015 have asking prices in excess of £375,000.

The residents of Ilford, Chigwell, Barking and Redbridge have a reputation in the wider London area as business owners, medical professionals and hard-working people. The spirit of the East End is very much alive in the drive to improve and aspire to move up the property ladder. Local schools are ranked as some of the best in London/Essex, with the grammar school system still in place locally, making properties close to locations such as Ilford County High for Boys highly desirable places to live. Furthermore with the city/Docklands on our doorstep potential buyers and residents have an international dimension from as far afield as China, Italy, Canada, and India.

This part of East London/Essex has long been connected with Ilford Film, Barking Docks, and Sir Winston Churchill MP for Woodford Green. Many a star of stage and screen have lived in the Chigwell and Redbridge areas.  Sir Trevor Brooking the ex- West Ham and England player was once educated at Ilford County High School.  Ilford has had its own brush with Hollywood with the late Kenneth Moore, who was born in Ilford and has the main theatre named after him. Fauja Singh the 100yr old marathon runner resides in the borough as well.

If you were to think of a typical property in this part of London then it may be the 1930s style bay fronted home, hundreds if not thousands of which were built during the pre- war years as long expanded and created suburbs along the central line. This predominant style of home has high ceilings good sized rooms and in many cases garages and decent rear gardens.  This style of home has proved increasingly popular for growing families as loft conversions and extensions seem to fit with the space and gardens that accompany the 1930’s style homes. Further into Central Ilford the homes along The Drive and touching Valentines Park are the very large and grand Edwardian and Victorian double fronted homes with Cellars and sweeping front driveways.  Going towards Chigwell then the Millionaires homes are pleasure palaces complete with gated fronts, indoor and outdoor pools and in some cases helicopter pads.

Located on the only true High Street in Redbridge borough Reeds Rains Ilford has one of the most prominent and spacious offices to serve our customers. With a team of highly motivated and customer focussed individuals who have had many years of experience at the forefront of a national property estate agency.

The property hotspots can be found close to both Ilford County and Woodford County grammar schools, Woodford Green and Barkingside. The Tomswood Road and Manor Road areas of Chigwell accommodate some of the area’s most prestigious homes. In the last few year properties close to the Newbury Park and Gants Hill tube stations have been in high demand due to their proximity to the tube.

In recent years, as the economy of London has recovered demand through the whole rental sector has exceeded expectations. Nowadays all types of property and accommodation is in very high demand and you can expect to be in competition with many prospective tenants, especially for properties close to transport allowing access into Stratford. A good example of rents in the area can be found in a three bedroom house close to a tube station and would be £1500-£1700pcm. Flats and apartments range from £800-£1300pcm.

The area is ideal for shopping, with many shops and stores located on the high streets. The area also hosts its own shopping mall, the Exchange Ilford, providing many branded stores such as Debenhams, New Look and Primark, along with a local market just outside its doors. That’s not all, as Westfield Stratford, the largest mall in Europe, is only a 15 minute tube journey away. Its hosts a large variety of stores, including restaurants, clothing shops and a food court.

One of the notable cultural centres in the area is the Kenneth More theatre, named after the 50s actor Kenneth More. It hosts a variety of plays and musicals, great for families. A prominent local sports centre is the Ilford swimming pool, once used as a training centre for Olympic athletes during the 2012 Olympic games. The Olympic park is also nearby, and can be reached via a short tube journey.

The area is well known for its greenery, the most popular example being Valentines park, famous for its floral displays, Valentines mansion and as a visiting spot for families and children. The area also boasts several stations along the central line, ideal for people who work in and around the City. To add to this already well-connected region, the new Crossrail railway station in Ilford will only improve the opportunities that can be found here.
