"We know it’s going to be tough yet we're really proud to be able to assist Cash for Kids with their vital fundraising.”
That’s the message from Cairn Morrison, the Branch Manager at Reeds Rains in Morley, who, along with colleagues Emma Knight, Charlotte Liddle-Johnson and Isobel Smith have decided to complete the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in support of our fundraising for the grant-giving charity, Cash for Kids.
The Challenge, which they will take part in on 22 May 2021, involves walking a route of 24 miles, and includes 5,200 feet of ascent, by taking on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. It can take over 12 hours to complete, if not more.
Cairn commented: ”In the past we’ve taken part in fundraising events for Cash for Kids, in branch, but due to COVID precautions there are now limited opportunities to do this and its why Emma, Charlotte and Isobel suggested the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge, which I've always wanted to do too.
I’m sure the team won't mind me saying that none of us are exactly mountaineers and none of us have done the full route previously, so we know it’s going to be tough. There’s been plenty of training going on in recent weeks, however, and we’re gearing ourselves up for an early 6 a.m. start on the day.
We’re hoping, along with monies we’ll raise from taking part in a Dress Down Day, in branch, that we’ll raise a decent amount.
Cash for Kids does such fantastic work for disadvantaged children throughout the north of England and we're just really proud to be able to assist them with their vital fundraising.”
Good luck for May 22nd Cairn and the team.
